"We are proud of our unique school. We may be small in size, but we are mighty in spirit and achievement. Lybrook Elementary has recently been nominated as an “A” school on our Michigan Report Card. This says a lot about our students as well as our staff."

WHAT GOES ON AT LYBROOK

Our students made pictures for Veteran’s Day.

First Graders had a Veterans’ Day parade.

We participated in the STUFF A TRUCK program. (thanks to Ms. Moran).

Some students will be making Christmas cards for the veterans.

We have many respectful, responsible and safe Lybrook Kids.

We are encouraging our kids to learn their Math Facts.  Please help them review at home

ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO ACT KINDLY TOWARDS OTHERS
All of us want our children to grow up to be kind and caring.  Here’s a simple way you can help.
With your child, make a list of all the children in his/her class.  Each day, ask your child to choose a different name from the list.  Talk about a specific way she could show kindness to the student during the day.  You can remind your child by putting a note in her lunch box or a little sticker in her agenda.  After school, discuss what acts of kindness your child did.

LYBROOK LEARNERS REACH FOR THE STARS
Be Respectful -- Be Responsible -- Be Safe

Lybrook Elementary School is a small town school with a big family feeling.  Our elementary has a dedicated, experienced and caring staff that is willing to go the extra mile to help students. We have a strong curriculum that is aligned with Michigan grade level content expectations. Our students perform above the Michigan Educational Assessment Program target scores that are set by the state of Michigan. We are proud to have passed the yearly standards set by the state of Michigan, as well as pass the "No Child Left Behind" standards set by the federal government.

MI SCHOOLS ARE IN CRISIS—you may have heard this on the news or read about it in the papers.  The fact is that the State of Mi is having a difficult time providing schools with proper funding for our children’s education.   The MI Education Association is encouraging parents to consider asking our State leadership to focus on making sure that good decisions are made regarding school funding.

Please consider contacting your legislator to let them know that they must work on a long-term solution to school funding.

From the PTO . . .
Its that time of year again. Thanks for all your support in the past. The PTO is offering multiple fundraisers throughout the 2009-2010 school year. Upcoming fundraisers are:
November -- Goodies Cookie dough and Fruit
February -- Little Caesars pizza and Butter Braids

Thank you again for your continued support as we actively fundraise to enhance your students learning environment and activities.

**FOR OUR KIDS’ SAKE—
It’s difficult for students to have a successful day if they don’t feel well.  The office staff will inform you right away if your child has a fever of 100 degrees.  Please help us out by coming in to pick him/her up.

The MI Dept. of Health has suggested the following:
Children should be kept home if they have. . .
-- An elevated body temp, any type of rash, vomited in the last 12 hrs., red, puffy &/or draining eyes, diarrhea or watery bowel, swelling on any part of the body, an audible or labored breathing, head lice--live bugs/nits ¼” from root, draining sores or skin infection,  communicable diseases such as chicken pox, measles, mumps, etc.

Thank you for your support!
